Parent/Guardian and Community School Climate Survey 2026

Letter to Parents

March 2026

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of our ongoing commitment to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming schools, all students in Grades 4 to 12 in the 糖心vlog, along with parents/guardians and school staff, are invited to participate in an anonymous School Climate Survey.

This survey is required every two years by the Ministry of Education. It gathers feedback on key areas that research shows are important for student success, including sense of belonging, relationships, safety and well-being. The survey has been tailored for GECDSB, with one version for students in Grades 4-6 and a slightly different version for students in Grades 7-12.

Parents/guardians and school staff will also complete a version of the survey that asks about student experiences, as well as their own perceptions of the school environment. Your feedback will help us better understand what is working well and where we can improve to support a positive school experience for all students.

Important Information About the GECDSB School Climate Survey:

  • Participation in the survey is voluntary. Students and parents/guardians may choose whether to participate and may skip any questions they do not want to answer.
  • The survey is anonymous and confidential.
  • Parents/guardians who do not wish for their child(ren) to participate may notify their school.
  • The student survey takes approximately 5-15 minutes to complete and will be administered during class time.
  • Accommodations will be provided to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Survey results will be reported at the school level only; no individual responses will be identified.
  • The information collected will be used by schools to strengthen safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environments where all students feel a sense of belonging.
  • Students will complete the survey online at school between March 30th and April 20th, 2026.

To help you better understand the questions, PDF versions of the surveys have been shared with all families on Edsby.
